Electronic & Software Design, Inc. is a Twin Cities based Engineering and Software Development Services Company.  ESDI has been providing quality engineering services and consulting, engineering products, devices, software and projects for many markets over more than 25 years.

Our name says what we do, but our real strength is the breadth and depth of our experience.  We can comfortably move between electronic, mechanical, embedded device software through AWS Cloud software, user interface, and many EMC and compliance aspects of a product. 

Our new office/lab has well equipped test benches and work areas, and a mechanical prototyping area with a bench top SMT oven.

John R. Severson, PE.   Mr Severson has decades of experience in engineering, engineering management, design for EMC and consulting. He has worked in numerous industries throughout his career, ranging from avaionics to metrology, to medical imaging, to agricultural IoT to Printed Electronics technology. He has devoted a significant portion of his career to equipment for persons with disabilities, founding and operating Ability Research, Inc.  He founded ESDI, which has been providing quality and innovative engineering services to clients for more than 25 years.

Tyrone Russell, BME.  Tyrone is an experienced and highly versatile senior Mechanical and Software Engineer at ESDI. 

ESDI can provide many services in house, but also uses trusted contractors or consultants where appropriate for a project.  We can work with your team or put a team together as appropriate and desired.

We use Altium Designer®  for schematics and PCB, and SolidWorks® Pro for 3D CAD design and simulation. We use a variety of open source and paid development tools and systems for ARM, PIC, Cypress PSOC, TI MSP, and other processors.  We also use NEC, Spice, Solidworks, and other simulation tools.
